Morriston Camera Club had the pleasure of hosting Martin Smith, AWP, on Friday evening. His talk entitled, ‘Isn’t Photography Fun’ was very interesting and his passion for photography was evident for all to see.
Martin likes to work from ideas and concepts and then use his camera to capture what he created, allowing him to be creative and imaginative with his work. His ideas are well thought through and he explained his thought patterns and techniques as the evening went on.
He explained his AWPF panel called, ‘The Leaves of Penlan’ and the his techniques in photographing and editing the leaves, giving him a well deserved AWPF award. The Catchphrase+ section of of his presentation was very interesting and showed off his quirky sense of humour and this section generated a lot of interaction with our members.
He also went on to show other genres of his work, including photographs from Dinorwig and Belgium, a selection of flowers, mannequins, and different techniques like twirling, infrared and tryptics.
We look forward to seeing more of Martin’s work in the future and if you’d want to see more of his work, in the mean time, it can be found on his website – http://www.mgjsphotography.co.uk/
