How old do I have to be to join?

You need to be 18 years old to join the camera club

Are we just a bunch of hairy men?

The majority of the membership do not have excessive facial hair and about 25% of our membership is female.

Entering Monthly Competition

Monthly competitions are a good way of developing your skills and create a lot of friendly rivalry amongst the club members. Judges, from outside of the club, will give feedback on your photographs, with the aim to improve your skills and rank or score within what photographs are entered into that round of the competition.

Judges score on technical and artistic merits of the photograph and your score may vary from judge to judge and depending on what other photographs are entered into that competition.

Less experienced members may find themselves at the lower end of the scores, while they learn to use their camera equipment, begin to understand composition and other photographic techniques. Like everything in life, the more you put into something the more you get out of it and the club will help and encourage you along the way.

How soon can I enter monthly competitions?

You can enter monthly competitions as soon as your membership subscriptions have been paid.

How are the trophies awarded?

The 2 competitions we run, are based on a league system, where your highest scoring image from each monthly round is added to your total and the person with the highest score after the 6 rounds wins the trophy for that year.

Dual Club Membership

We apricate that many members of Morriston Camera Club are also members of other camera clubs, enjoying their hobby to the fullest.

This does however cause a minor issue with external competitions, where a member may find themselves entering the same competition with both clubs and may even end up having the same photograph displayed by both clubs. To avoid this situation from happening, we would prefer that the member tell the external competition sectary or other committee member, if we can use their photographs in external battles. Unless otherwise stated, Morriston Camera Club will assume that we can use your photographs in external competitions.
